Blessed Branch
The rekindling of a dead pyre needs one. Not a made thing — a natural rarity of the high crags, where a hardy scrub-tree now and again bears a single branch of bright blue flowers, sometimes streaked crimson, in place of white and orange. Found by chance, like a four-leaf clover, and only near the peaks. (S1–S2) — Three were won in the end from Caranthalis's tree beneath the mountain: one from the Guardian's mouth, two more cut from the boughs, before goblin powder unmade the tree itself. (S4–S5) — The two meant for Drosven's Gate never got there: the Askavir carried Jamal and his branches up to the peak, and Ygva tore away all three — two from Jamal, one from Sylvie — with Sylvie's heart. Every branch is now in the witch's hands. (S6)
The Branded Skin
The runic hide Heyou flayed from the Umbra-warped brute in the titan's tunnels — three brands cut into the flesh to compel or empower, that glowed as the dead thing dragged itself up again. He kept it to study its runes. (S3)
Goblin Black Powder
The goblin engineers' three-part explosive barrels, and a satchel of the same they pressed on Heyou — payment, and the promise of more, for killing the Guardian. (S4–S5)
Guardian's collar
A heavy collar with a broken chain, taken from the Guardian's neck — the tether that bound the beast to the Sacred Tree. (S5)
Seed Cones
Tight oval seed-cones gathered from the roots of Caranthalis's tree before it burned; they open only to fire. What might grow another light, should any survive. (S5)
Borek's Ward-Medallion
A heavy silver charm — a snarling figure ringed in metal — hung on Heyou by Borek. No key; a ward, that the Askavir might not eat him. (S2)
Moon Rune Jara
The rune from Sylvie's visions. Ygva's own mark. (S2)
The Witch's Sealed Jewelry (circlet · glassy-stone necklace · signet ring)
Locked in Ygva's rune-marked box (a moon-rune seal, her own mark) at her mountain camp: a thin circlet, a layered necklace of glassy stones, and a heavy signet ring, each with power sleeping in it. Sylvie wears the necklace; Heyou half-knew the ring's make. No one at Verrow's Span could name them — Tamber pointed to the Celsian Athenaeum. (S7)
Small Iron Lockbox
A keyed iron box taken from the witch's camp, still unopened; Heyou keeps it close. (S7)
Celsian Map
Tamber's great map: the whole of the world the party knew is a corner of it, the rest running west past knowing. (S7)
Pictogram Stones
Twenty-three small carved stones from the witch's camp, four laid out on a flat rock. Their order is the order of the mile-high Mountain Pictographs on the high road — a pattern Heyou recognized. (S7)
Askavir Heart
Cut from the fallen Askavir — a heart the size of a body, saturated with Splendor, the light once thought the gods' alone; it gives off a warmth like far sacred-pyre light. Ygva wrenched it away and Heyou pickpocketed it back and vanished with it. She wants it for calling the gods down; Sylvie is afraid to touch it. Plan: forge a fake, packed with ichor from the bird's ruined eye, to pass for the real one in the witch's hand. (S8) — Pressed by an astral assassin below, Heyou spent the heart's power for one god-bright smite; it went cold and quiet in his hands, and he dropped unconscious. Now spent. (S9)
The False Heart
The forged decoy Heyou carried to hold out to Ygva in place of the real Askavir Heart — Sylvie's one condition on a plan she called foolish. (S9)
Stoneweaver pendant
Sylvie's stone-weaver focus from her Stoneheart Peaks craft: fixes a stone sentinel's attention, and binds and drives a great stone elemental — the Living Fortress. She handed it to Heyou to pilot the Fortress from hiding. (S9)
Otheidas Arm-Band
A metal-and-wood arm-band stamped with Heyou's own chest-sigil, found among God-King Otheidas's relics at the altars in the World Below — the same mark pressed into his wood when he first woke. He judges it might build a new being if it were ever powered. Ygva let him take it. (S10)
Draz's ever-upward compass
A compass that will keep to no earthly north, only to a pole straight up. Ygva reads it as pointing to Ossa, the Wanderer of the Peaks — a skyward target. (S7, S10) — Origin (S26): no purchase or find — a family heirloom. A village elder pressed it into Draz's hands at his coming-of-age, saying his family had left it to him and that they were bound to pass it on; no one knew what it did or why. In Talis its needle held the exact bearing of Sylvie's skyward "pull," up and out of the world. (S26)
Phasing pieces
Cut from the two dead mantises where they died half-inside stone: worn, they let a matching limb pass through rock. Too few for a whole body. (S10)
Blessed Branch (the one carried back)
Ygva gave one branch off the Caranthalis Altar in the World Below — traded for Heyou's pinecone-seeds, on the promise the party replaces it if her cultivation fails. A branch burned at a pyre cannot be reclaimed. Heyou phased it into the Living Fortress. Bound for Drosven's Gate's dead pyre. (S11)
Claw Dagger
A dagger Heyou forged from an Askavir claw (with Jamal's help) at Verrow's Span. (S11) — Later held by Draz.
Blunderbuss Handgun
A blunderbuss relic Draz found among the altars; he and Heyou craft its shot (four, plus a special round). (S11)
Phasing Vambraces
Heyou's ancient-tech bracers that let him pass objects (the Blessed Branch) into and out of solid matter — e.g. stowed inside the Living Fortress. (S11)
Devouring Dagger
A fear-driving blade taken from Borek's hoard; its cuts force stress and terror on whatever it strikes. Heyou gave it to Sylvie (who was then stabbed with it by a guard). (S12)
Axe of Fortunus
A Tier-3 axe recovered from Borek's cache, set aside for Jamal. (S12)
The binding rune
A coercive mark on Draz's arm — Borek exposed it — that binds a company together and clouds what its members can remember. Who set it, and on whom else, is unknown. (S12)
Heyou's recovered leg
One of Heyou's missing prosthetic legs, found in Borek's hoard, cut with the sign of Brathis (three fallen stalactites in a triangle). (S12)
Dragon spoils
Scales worked into Draz's armor, and caustic bile-sacs drawn out and stored in the Living Fortress — taken from the night dragon killed near the old campsite. (S13)
Axe of Great Value
A rumored heavy axe carried by a towering man (built like a dwarf) among the spectral dwarven guardians in drowned Grithmaar Deep; Jamal shattered him and the party took it. (S16 — the fight relocated here from the S18 record; see the footnote on the S16 page)
Otheidas Circlet (Casper's)
A small magical circlet Draz took from the dead Casper tol-Otheidas's brow; it opened Splendor-sight in him — he now sees Splendor as light and aura. A third Otheidas-linked circlet in the story (distinct from Sylvie's). (S20)
Scepter of the Sacred Pyre
The scepter that powers the Celsian Athenaeum's Sacred Pyre; Dagga fetched it and put it in Draz's hands, deepening his Splendor-sight to a "symphony." (S20) — Its removal dropped the compound's Umbra-bulwark; Draz jammed it back in its socket to relight the pyre, taking a lightning albatross's bolt to do it. (S21)
Suppression Amulet
A quartz-and-bead pendant stripped from Dean Therion Calanthe — a bidirectional magic dampener; Heyou learns to slip his own casting through it, and it swallows the deadly wards of The Stacks. (S21) — Jamal forced it onto Retta to break the body-jump draw taking her; it did nothing (the working was no magic the amulet could touch), and she went feral regardless. It stayed on her when she died. (S26) — Jamal recovered it from her corpse before they moved on. (S27)
Vial of Splendor essence
Concentrated Splendor wept from a bud of Heyou's heart as it drank the ambient motes — a thick, brilliant liquid. Heyou gathered a vial and tossed it to Draz, who kept it; the heart produces more as an ongoing process. Raw distilled Splendor, use unknown. (S27)
Stacks plunder
From the Athenaeum's vault Heyou filled a bottomless bag: draughts, arcane shards, a replication parchment (copies what it touches), half-restored relics — nearly all humming with Splendor. (S21)
Stoneweaver Focus
A responsive focus-stone — a pink crystal Sylvie took up in the Athenaeum's map room. Her own dead mountain-stone will not answer her anymore, but this one does; through it she began to reach the stone-craft she had lost, and learned it runs on instinct, not the wizard's book-knowledge she drilled. The successor to the Stoneweaver pendant that drowned with Bob. (S22)
The returned motive-core
The heart-battery that first gave Heyou motion, cut out of him when the Syndicate reduced him to a head and torso. Vanco had carried it in the vaults, and gave it back. (S23) — Heyou worked it into his own chest, but it would not seat: not the heart he lost, but something very like him, with another's essence still in it, forever a half-beat out of time. He is whole again, and wrong. (S25) — Now carried loose (the old construct-body dismantled) and studied through Kreth's eyes, it reads as no machine at all: organic and floral, a knot of thick vines set with dormant buds. Ambient Splendor motes drift to it like filings to a magnet; a bud opens and it weeps concentrated Splendor essence, slow and ongoing. Heyou vialed some (one to Draz) and mooted giving the heart to heartless Sylvie. (S27) — NOTE: read here as the same heart Heyou has carried since S23; if it is a distinct object, correct this entry.
Sling-Cannon
Draz's finesse weapon — an arm-brace with a sling built into it, that can be loaded and fired like a small arm-cannon. (S23)
The recovered books
Three works lifted from the Forbidden Library: a ghost-written tactics treatise of an ancient warrior-king (Heyou's); Inola's courtly text on subtle influence magic (a road to a Grace-domain card for Sylvie); and the Nailed Tome, Ygva's depletion thesis — the art she was expelled for — which Heyou copied to magical parchment before the original crumbled to dust. (S24)
The Amber Reach paintings ("true faces")
Views of a radiant lost age, each painted from a real vantage — an archipelago beneath giant archways, a pilgrim's path in craggy peaks, a fruiting shore with a three-masted ship. Sylvie's teleport keys: she reads them by the Splendor-motes still drifting in the painted scene, the anchor that survives the centuries. She used the shore-painting to reach the faerie wood. (S24–S25)
Portal Seed
Planted by Sylvie in the Forbidden Library before the company left — a fixed door back to that spot, and perhaps the first node of a wider web of doors. (S25)
The Eyes of Kreth
Pale, luminous moon-orbs — divine organs of perception left behind by Kreth (deception & the moon), worn by the fae of the shore wood in place of their own gouged-out eyes. Divine remnants, kin to the Blessed Branches and the Askavir; to see through them is to see the world as it can be made to seem. Two were set into Speaker during the fight. (S25) — Heyou now sees through a pair himself: the Shadow Cast body he jumped into carries its own Eyes of Kreth, so his sight is now the fae's radiant-past sight — Talis a sacred garden, his companions lit by an inner light he can read the presence or absence of. (S26)
All Is Fair (domain card)
A one-time-use wild domain card given to Draz: the party gains Hope equal to the Fear in the GM's pool, distributed among the PCs as they wish, then the card goes to his vault permanently. Unspent as of S26. (S26)
Sweet nectar of Talis
Liquid drawn from a drowned-faerie orb in Talis — the orbs whose touch floods the lungs with water. Self-sealing when pierced; smells and tastes of sweet flower-nectar, close kin to a gin Draz once drank. He scooped a measure into a leaf and set it in his pan. Effects untested. (S26)
