Heyou is a construct rogue, a mechanical being with a forged body designed for survival in perilous environments. He possesses a watchful demeanor and an efficient build, allowing him to react instinctively to threats. His ability to blend into shadows makes him undetectable, poised to strike from the periphery. He ran with a syndicate based out of the cliff-carved port of Salthewn, and from those days he remembers two giant brothers, Ugg and Grug, who were muscle for a rival crew. He is also a member of The Enduring Lesser Lights, a group of delvers recognized for their practical knowledge and awareness.

Heyou is unlike the other constructs of the age, who are ancient stone-and-wood idols the departed gods once spoke through. His body is mostly wood, kept together from whatever scrap he can find, save for one original metal arm — a smith's arm. He broke from his Salthewn syndicate when he recovered a second such arm, and he now carries an obsession: to find the scattered pieces of his true self and, one at a time, replace his makeshift parts with them, learning along the way why he is different from his kind. Beneath a scavenged skull-faced faceplate, he is forthright and gregarious for a rogue — trusted among thieves precisely because he keeps his word.

During the eruption at the Sacred Pyre in Drosven’s Gate, Heyou was struck by a glancing acid hit but quickly vanished into the shadows to avoid detection. After regrouping, he circled the battlefield and used his two daggers to split the halves of a jelly that was mid-split. He demonstrated his understanding of hazardous substances by identifying an oily slick in a cavern as the secretion of an ooze used in the forge-fires of Salthewn, warning his companions of its flammability. Following the battle, he expressed concern for the town, stating he liked it and did not want to see it fall, agreeing to the group's plan to retrieve a Blessed Branch to rekindle the pyre. He also assisted in gathering provisions from abandoned trade stalls and ale reserves, demonstrating his adaptability and resourcefulness.

In a confrontation with a hulking brute corrupted by the Umbra, Heyou stealthily positioned himself to strike from the shadows, plunging a weapon into the creature's flank. This action ignited the flammable ichor, contributing to the chaos of the battle and allowing his allies to regroup and counterattack. He provided assistance to Draz after the ranger was injured, drawing hope into his body to ease his pain and bolster his resolve. Throughout the encounter, Heyou advocated for maintaining momentum against the goblins, emphasizing the need to press forward despite the dangers they faced.

Recently, Heyou has become a member of Dimmers, recognized for his insider knowledge and alert demeanor. This presence enables him to quickly identify key figures and situations relevant to Dimmers in Ulmira’s Step, where he displays a respectful understanding of local dynamics. Upon arriving in Ulmira’s Step, Heyou spots Dimmers operators, including a dwarf named Borek, who wears a two-finger ring with Dimmers emblem. He approaches them with subtle signals of recognition that are discernible only to fellow insiders. He mentions coming from Drosven’s Gate, where calamity has extinguished the pyre, indicating his awareness of broader implications. Borek welcomes Heyou and offers information regarding the whereabouts of missing limbs, proposing a bargain for Askavir eggs. Throughout the discussions, Heyou leverages his connections and knowledge to gain advantages, while other members of his party focus on different aspects of the environment.

In addition to his role as a rogue, Heyou is known for his intricate design and functionality, serving as a valuable asset to the party. He possesses no biological needs, allowing him to remain vigilant during long waits. His capabilities include tactical planning and combat execution, demonstrating his role as a critical thinker and skilled engineer, earning respect from both party members and goblins. He actively participated in planning an ambush against goblins, positioning himself on a cliff ledge alongside Draz. Advocating for using Flammable Ooze to create an explosive signal for their attack, the ambush was successfully executed, with Draz igniting the ooze, causing significant damage to the goblin patrol. Heyou maneuvered through combat using his ability called Rain of Blades to eliminate goblin mechanics.

During the adventure, he encountered a ten-foot-tall stone creature that emerged from the wall, showcasing his ability to adapt to unexpected threats. He subsequently became animated by an Ancient Spirit, which warned the party about a powerful Guardian connected to a Glowing Tree. After regaining control, Heyou provided healing support to Draz, highlighting his supportive role within the group. His interactions with the goblins revealed his diplomatic skills, as he built rapport and negotiated terms for an alliance. The goblins respected his engineering prowess, resulting in a trade of tools and explosive powder. Heyou remained focused on strategic planning and support for his allies, emphasizing his importance in the group's dynamic.

Recently, Heyou has shown a pragmatic approach in negotiations, leveraging his mechanical resilience in dangerous situations. During an encounter with goblins, he negotiated the use of explosives against a Guardian beast and volunteered to move Explosive Barrels, believing his mechanical nature made him more expendable than biological beings. He attempted to connect with Mellon's ghost through Sylvie's pendant but failed, which drew Mellon's attention. While executing plans against the Guardian beast, he moved barrels closer to it, positioning himself on a bridge between the beast and the explosives. He was injured when Draz detonated the barrels, which freed the Guardian beast, and subsequently became partially trapped beneath it after multiple explosive encounters.

After the Guardian beast's defeat, Heyou collected seed containers found around the Sacred Tree's base, working alongside Sylvie. He later encountered tensions with returning goblins who brought more explosives and proposed using the threat of destroying the Sacred Tree as leverage. A catastrophic explosion from a goblin mishap obliterated the Sacred Tree, creating a dire situation for the party. As they tried to escape, Heyou sensed a connection with a stone figure named Kelun, who blocked their path and communicated telepathically, expressing disappointment over their actions. This encounter underscored Heyou's nature as an artificial being and potential ties to supernatural entities. Throughout these events, he has shown strategic thinking, resourcefulness, and a willingness to put himself in danger for the party's objectives.

In a recent development, Heyou's leg, a mechanical entity originally part of him, was lost during an encounter with supernatural forces. After being reattached, it retains an independent essence, symbolizing resilience and adaptability. Heyou displayed remarkable agility while crossing a rope bridge, navigating the treacherous path with precision as the bridge shook violently due to the presence of Askavir. During an encounter with Ygva, a powerful witch, he used Goblin Black Powder in a coordinated explosive attack with Draz, injuring Ygva and several Umbral Spirits. Ygva recognized Heyou and summoned his leg, which then kicked him in the head, exemplifying its independent spirit. Following this event, Heyou began adapting to the leg's retained independence, marking a new phase in his journey.

Heyou is associated with Dimmers, known for his discreet nature and curiosity about the undercurrents of Verrow's Span. He possesses metal arms and has replaced his original wooden leg with them. He has a notable ability to disappear, which he uses strategically in confrontations. While in Verrow's Span, Heyou discreetly inquired about Dimmers and the Dimmers, receiving cautionary tales from locals. He expressed interest in the Askavir, a giant bird connected to the god Tlellic, and considered checking for eggs. He recognized a tall katari with an eye patch among the arriving refugees from Dolm's Break, suspecting ulterior motives. During an attack by the Askavir, Heyou used his stealth to flank Ygva, the witch, and applied a chokehold on her.

In a violent confrontation, Ygva overpowered Heyou by tearing off his arms and using them against him. However, he experienced a moment of recovery, reattaching his arms. After Ygva seized a heart infused with potent Splendor magic from Sylvie, Heyou took advantage of her distraction to pickpocket The Heart and vanished with it. After the battle, he proposed a plan to forge a fake heart using his forgery kit, suggesting filling it with ichor from the Askavir’s eye for realism.

Recently, Heyou has assisted the party by belaying and providing support during descents, adhering to Sylvie's insistence to keep his distance. He uses his ability, Inspiring Words, to grant hope to Jamal and Draz before a hazardous river crossing. During a sudden ambush by gremlins, he remains hidden, ultimately dispatching the last surviving gremlin after the group engages in combat. In an incident involving a flood trap, he attempts to reach his companions but cannot do so in time. After the party survives a fall into a cold pool, Heyou signals their presence with a splash as he joins them unseen. He helps navigate a living tunnel but becomes trapped when the organism compresses. After Sylvie uses Fireball to weaken the organism, Heyou escapes, remaining invisible and coated in fluid. He then takes command of a massive stone elemental, the Living Fortress, piloting it while still maintaining his hidden status.

Heyou is a construct known for his scavenger skills. He has a wooden body, a metal arm, and a sigil engraved on his chest, indicating his origins. He is affiliated with a group of adventurers, assisting them in navigating challenges in the World Below. Heyou possesses a stone pendant that grants him control over an automaton Living Fortress, aiding in his concealment during dangerous encounters.

In a recent encounter, Heyou survived a near-fatal injury in a cavern filled with hostile creatures by absorbing a portion of the heart from an Askavir. This act granted him holy power, which he used to destroy a phasing enemy. Following this event, he discussed the possibility of crafting gliders from the wings of large mantis-like creatures and suggested summoning Ygva, a powerful witch, for assistance while remaining cautious.

Heyou participated in presenting the Askavir heart to Ygva at a pyre site, inquiring about her plan to bind the gods and secure the future of their world. He noted various artifacts, including an arm-band matching his sigil, which he believed could assist in constructing a new being. He negotiated with Ygva for the arm-band, arguing its potential to expedite their efforts, and accepted a scar from her for future empowerment, demonstrating his willingness to enhance his abilities for the quest ahead.

Recently, Heyou has acquired a Blessed Branch connected to the divine, which he traded for under Grithmaar Deep. He carries this branch discreetly within the Living Fortress using his Phasing Vambraces. He has also collected valuable parts from an Askavir's body, successfully forging a dagger from one of the claws with Jamal's assistance. Heyou was involved in a stealthy infiltration mission with Borek, a flamboyant Dimmers member, where he and Sylvie used invisibility to navigate through Borek's quarters while Draz created a distraction. During this heist, Heyou first rendered Sylvie invisible before infiltrating Borek’s multi-unit house through an unbolted ground-floor window. Inside, they encountered a smoky crow from the Umbral mists, responding to Sylvie's thoughts. Heyou noted a guarded door watched by a dwarf and simiah, while Sylvie detected a magical ward on another door. After Sylvie picked the lock and suppressed the ward, they accessed a cache room filled with items, including one of Heyou’s missing prosthetic legs. As they attempted to exit, they faced a simiah, leading to a chaotic struggle. Heyou used Power Push to hurl the simiah through a wall, while Sylvie attacked with the Devouring Dagger. Additional guards entered, prompting Heyou to unleash a powerful area attack that eliminated the simiah but also harmed Sylvie. Following a confrontation with Borek, they managed to escape the building with the prosthetic leg and other valuable items, ready to rendezvous with their companion Jamal outside town.

Heyou is a tinkering rogue-warlock with ancient tech body parts, including a prosthetic leg that exhibits twitching movements, indicating a connection to his enhancements. During an ambush setup, Heyou cast Invisibility on Sylvie and concealed himself in roadside brush to avoid detection by approaching figures. He observed that Sarru, a dwarf Guardian, and Savel, a giant sorcerer, were among the incoming group and signaled a knockout plan to Sylvie, which she declined. When restrained by unseen magic, Heyou used his ancient-tech awareness to break free from the bindings. He then rushed into close range and cast Blades Everywhere, showering blades through clustered foes and non-lethally downing Savel, Sarru, and another enemy. After the fight, Heyou dragged the incapacitated Savel and Sarru together, tying their hands and stabilizing them to keep them unconscious but alive. Later, he delicately removed volatile bile sacs from a Dragon's viscera using his phase gauntlets and stored them safely inside the Living Fortress for later use. He also handed Jamal a magical axe, the Axe of Fortunus, which he had recovered earlier. When the party debated their route, Heyou argued against returning to Drosven’s Gate, suggesting they bypass the town entirely.

Recently, Heyou, now the leader of stealth operations, has been known for his agility and tactical awareness. He coordinated movements within his group, which includes Sylvie, Draz, and Jamal. During a stealth advance into underground tunnels, Heyou led the group deeper into the caverns, successfully avoiding a Flaming Skull sentinel by taking a detour. He assessed narrow bridges, noting that their construct ally, Bob the Living Fortress, could not cross them. In a confrontation with a giant guardian, Heyou executed a follow-up stab after Bob hurled acid at the creature, contributing to a coordinated team attack with Jamal and Sylvie that resulted in significant damage to the guardian.

Recently, Heyou sought to engage with Kaelyn during a confrontation with a massive eldritch creature. He moved toward the center of the area while remaining unseen and attempted to search Kaelyn for a physical “leash,” but was obstructed by Stone Elementals and found no such item.

Heyou is a constructed being with internal sensors, capable of swimming or floating in water. He does not require breathing, although he initially feels an urge to do so. He possesses a Devouring Dagger, which he uses to cut down undead foes, causing them to exhale black umbral smoke upon defeat. During a fall into an underground cavern, Heyou swam towards Sylvie and used Healing Hands to restore her vitality, successfully clearing two hit points. As the water level rose, he assisted the group in navigating through the cavern. When undead dwarves attacked, Heyou defended himself, cutting down several with his dagger. He muscled the heavy rear doors shut against a flood of water, buying the group time as the hall began to fill. Later, he helped seal the bent doors into place, stemming the main deluge while the pressure mounted from other passages. Heyou then swam towards a drier corridor, gathering useful-looking containers or tools from partially submerged benches while scanning for threats.

Heyou can reshape non-organic materials, a knack that serves him with stone. After a significant encounter with crabs, he was torn apart and restored by his companions, Sylvie and Jamal. He returned underwater to recover the Blessed Branch and the collar of a drowned companion. In a battle against large crabs, he blasted three at close range but sustained severe injuries. Following the battle, he was reassembled by Sylvie and Jamal using a healing draught. He reshaped stone to close the entrance of a cleft where the group made camp and participated in efforts to channel magic with Sylvie to restore what had been lost from the mountaintop.
