The Enduring Lesser Lights is a faction of delvers known for their commitment to protecting the town of Drosven's Gate from supernatural threats. This group, based primarily in the settlement of Ulmira’s Step—built around the fossilized remains of a colossal titan—comprises Sylvie Cerridwen, a Ridgeborne wizard; Heyou, a construct rogue; Jamal, a dwarf slayer; and Draz, a simiah ranger. They are dedicated to rekindling the Sacred Pyre of Drosven’s Gate, which was extinguished amid a surge of dark creatures from the cracked ground beside the plaza.
Historically, the Enduring Lesser Lights have faced numerous challenges in their quest, notably the recent chaos unleashed when the Sacred Pyre was snuffed out, leading to a massive emergence of chitinous creatures. Jamal fought valiantly against this creature, while Heyou's stealth proved vital for evasion; Sylvie's spellcasting helped neutralize various threats, and Draz provided crucial ranged support. Their journey towards rekindling the pyre compelled them to travel to Ulmira’s Step to seek the Blessed Branch from a witch named Ygva, which was revealed to be necessary for their objective. They were guided to Sarru, a dwarven pyre-keeper, who warned them about the spiritual dangers posed by the Umbra.
As the Enduring Lesser Lights settled into their new base in Ulmira’s Step, the landscape appeared uneasy due to past calamities. They garnered the support of local allies and maintained a lively presence in the community, even participating in cultural meals to foster goodwill. This diverse town, historically founded by giants and later populated by dwarves and humans, boasts its own Sacred Pyre, allowing it to remain warm and free of miasma.
Recent developments have seen the Enduring Lesser Lights embark on a perilous expedition into treacherous caverns, where they have faced multiple challenges such as traps and ambushes from goblin forces. The air within these caverns was thick with a kerosene-like odor, signaling lurking dangers. During their descent, they confronted a hulking goblinoid whose oily ichor ignited, leading to flames spreading throughout the cavern. Although they sustained injuries during this fierce battle, they were able to defeat the creature. However, the expedition took a strange turn when a goblin rockfall sealed the way and Mellon ran at it, passing insubstantially through the stone, prompting the remaining members to regroup amidst escalating goblin ambushes. This confrontation revealed that the goblins were not only formidable foes but highly organized engineers dedicated to fortifying their defenses, intensifying the growing concern about the corruption stemming from the Umbra. Undeterred, the Enduring Lesser Lights resolved to confront the goblin threat head-on, preparing for the challenges ahead.
