A heavy medallion on a thick chain — silver in colour but heavier than silver, a good fifteen pounds of it. Its face is an ornate ring around a strange figure that seems to be baring its teeth, the border not quite closing into a circle.
Borek wore it as his "good luck ward" during his time up in the mountains, and — having no intention of returning there himself — draped it over Heyou when the two struck their bargain over the Askavir eggs. Heyou took it for a key or a talisman to find the great bird, but Borek set him straight: it is nothing so useful. Its one purpose is to keep the wearer from being eaten right away.
