Yuki is a snow leopard, the animal companion of the ranger Mellon — powerful, agile, and fiercely bonded to him. (The party named her; "yuki" means snow.) In the delve beneath Ulmira’s Step she fought at the party’s side, lunging at the Umbra-Brute and raking its legs amid the flames.
When the passage collapsed and Mellon ran at the rubble and passed insubstantially through the stone, Yuki could not follow. She stayed behind at the fresh stonefall, yowling and scraping at the rock, hackles raised — plainly grieving for the companion she could no longer reach. After the ambush that followed she attached herself to Draz, trailing the party along the upper path.
In time Mellon would return to the party’s camp as a ghost, and Yuki tolerates his incorporeal presence, sitting with him though his hand passes through her fur — the bond outlasting his body.
Status: Bereaved companion; keeps to the party.
